Our deep commitment to your safety guides our approach to everything at Amazon Flex. You may see dogs while you’re out delivering, so we provide resources that can help you stay safe in these situations. Here are some of the ways you can use these resources to prioritise your safety and deliver with confidence.

Before your delivery block

The best way to prevent an injury from a dog is knowing how to avoid an interaction. For helpful advice on how to do this, view the dog safety videos and suggestions in the Learning Portal of the Amazon Flex app. You can access these at any time under “Staying safe” > “What to do if there is a dog at a delivery location.”

‍Approaching a delivery location

Once your delivery block begins, there is an additional resource available to you in the Amazon Flex app. If a delivery location has a paw print icon, this means that a dog may be present based on reports from the customer or other delivery partners. Each paw print also has a “Learn more” link with helpful dog safety advice that you can instantly view. If you encounter a dog at your delivery location that does not have a paw print, you can add one by using the “Report a dog on our route” option in the Amazon Flex app.

At a delivery location

‍Looking for clues such as food and water bowls, and making noise such as announcing “Amazon order,” can help you identify if a dog may be present at a delivery location. If you see a dog that is not secured, we recommend returning to the safety of your vehicle. In the hours of 8am to 8pm, consider contacting the customer. In the app, tap the question mark icon (?) > Call or Text the Customer, and ask that the dog be secured, or to suggest a safe alternate delivery location. If you cannot reach the customer, please contact Driver Support for assistance. After speaking with the customer or Driver Support, tap the question mark icon (?) > Unable to deliver > Unsafe due to dog, and return the package to your pickup location.

Your safety is our priority, and we don’t expect you to ever make a delivery if you feel unsafe. We provide an option in the Amazon Flex app to indicate that you could not complete a delivery due to a dog safety concern. If you arrive at a delivery location and do not feel safe, you can also contact driver support through the Amazon Flex app.
