Staying safe on the road during Road Safety Week

Road safety is important for Amazon Flex delivery partners and community members alike. As part of Road Safety Week, from May 17 through May 24, we’re sharing free safety gear, special features in the Amazon Flex app, and safety recommendations to help keep you and other road users safe.

Safety gear to help keep you safe during deliveries

‍ High-visibility safety vests are available from delivery stations at no cost to you. They are designed with reflective technology to help you stay visible to other vehicles, Amazon customers, and the community while at the delivery station and on the road. For maximum visibility, it is important that you wear your safety vest as the outermost layer at all times when making Amazon Flex deliveries. Amazon Flex also offers two types of free vehicle magnets at select delivery stations to identify you as a delivery driver, and that your vehicle makes frequent stops. Additionally, we offer free headlamps at select delivery stations to help you see better in the dark during deliveries.

‍Maps and navigation features to keep you aware of road conditions

Amazon Flex maps and navigation are designed with your safety in mind. In Amazon Flex maps, we show up-to-date road information to include the most straightforward directions to your next stop, prioritising your safety and time. Directions between package stops will prioritise your safety by minimising U-turns and walking across the road. You can choose to follow the guided navigation or exercise your own judgement to find the most optimal route between stops. Remember to always stay alert to roadside speed limit signs and adjust your speed accordingly. While driving, remember to keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to give yourself more time to react.

‍Recognising fatigue to help keep you alert

‍ Stay aware of any signs of fatigue while driving. If you notice symptoms, find a safe spot to park your vehicle, and take a break. As an Amazon Flex delivery partner, you are able to take breaks anytime during your delivery route. Use the Amazon Flex app to contact Driver Support if you are unable to continue delivering.
